How do I transfer my .com domain to another provider?

To transfer your .com domain away from us to another provider, follow these steps:

Ensure the domain is eligible for transfer:

  • It must be more than 60 days old
  • It must not have been transferred in the last 60 days
  • It must not be close to expiry (renew first if needed)

Prepare the domain in your current control panel:

  • Disable domain transfer lock
  • Confirm the registrant/admin email address is active and accessible
  • Request the EPP/Auth (transfer) code

Start the transfer with your new provider:

  • Submit the transfer request for your domain
  • Enter the EPP/Auth code when prompted
  • Pay any transfer fee (usually includes a 1-year renewal)

Approve transfer emails:

  • Approve confirmation emails from the gaining registrar
  • If prompted, approve release from the current registrar to speed up transfer

DNS and email continuity:

  • Copy DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) before transfer
  • Recreate DNS at the new provider before changing nameservers to avoid downtime

Most .com transfers complete within 5-7 days, depending on approvals and registry processing.
